Machine made rugs are woven on computerized Wilton or Axminster looms which have been strung with a warp of jute or cotton.
Next, the rug is woven with a shuttle of wool, polypropylene, acrylic, nylon, poly-acrylic, or wool nylon yarns. These looms are used to weave three different types of oriental reproductions: Wilton, Crosswoven Wilton, and Axminster.
Within any of the three types, pile height can be altered to achieve a certain price point. Densities are also controlled by pile height, which is determined by points of yarn per square meter.
