Capel licensee and HGTV star Genevieve Gorder has expanded her offerings under the Capel Rugs umbrella with the addition of braided, hand tufted and flat woven designs to her wildly successful collection. Gorder’s previous designs had all been flat woven dhurries.
“I’ve been doing dhurries exclusively for the past few seasons — I love the dhurrie and I’ll never stop — but we wanted to also play in the world of tufted and outdoor, and I wanted to expand it into different horizons — price and different constructions,” Gorder told Furniture Today.
The Player design is braided at our mill in North Carolina and is perfect for layering with other rugs. The casual rug features fringe along two edges and incorporates two stripes for a pop of color against the neutral bases. The Player comes in six colorways and is reversible for twice the use between cleanings.
“I wanted to dip into braids. It’s Capel. Who else does braids like Capel? I wanted to create the 501 jean that’s really basic,” Gorder said.
The hand tufted Ancient Arrow rug contains hand-drawn, imperfect lines for the vintage feel. But the use of the repeating striped pattern gives Ancient Arrow a truly contemporary look. The 80% wool, 20% viscose rug is a bold addition to our expansive line of hand tufted rugs.
For the outdoor living space, Gorder has taken the outdoor rug and elevated it to new levels. The intricate and familiar patterns from old centuries are at the forefront of our Finesse Mandala and Finesse Moor rugs. These distressed, and seemingly aged, looks will add contrast to any deck or patio.
“I wanted to bring that indoor antique to the outdoor. It’s distressed and ancient because everything in outdoor feels so contemporary,” Gorder said. “It’s all so crispy plastic. I wanted to entertain everyone.”
We simply can’t contain our excitement for the new additions to the Genevieve Gorder collection, and we know you’ll feel the same way once you see them for yourself.
