Tuscan Sun in turquesa from our Kevin O’Brien collection was honored during the 2014 America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards on January 10, receiving the award for hand tufted rugs in the less than $8 per square foot price range. The event for rug show attendees took place at the Hyatt Regency during the Atlanta International Rug Market.
“We continue to think outside the box with our designs and with our marketing efforts,” said Allen Robertson, vice president of sales. “The amazing response we’ve received for our new collections, including this award, makes us optimistic about our business in 2014.”
Tuscan Sun draws upon the striking landscapes that O’Brien captured in sketches during his recent trip to Tuscany. The transitional rug, made from 90% wool and 10% viscose, brings the enchantment and romance of Italy into any home. The award-winning design is available in three colorways: grey, spa cream and turquesa.
“The seventh sunset in Tuscany was as beautiful as the first six, and after a week I had a sketchbook full of paintings of suns hovering over lush layers of landscape,” said O’Brien. “Winning the award for a rug based on these paintings is as rewarding as any of those evenings in Italy.”
We also introduced five additional designs in the Kevin O’Brien collection: Finesse Santorini, Lisbon, Portofino, Ramblas and Riviera. The collection, created in partnership with the renowned textile designer, received much recognition from buyers and media during the 2014 rug show in Atlanta at AmericasMart.
Recipients of the America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards were chosen by: Annette Joseph, an expert on entertaining, cooking and styling who regularly appears on the Today show; interior designer Darcy Adler; and Sharian Garner of Oriental rug dealer Sharian Rugs. The winning rugs were displayed in the Museum of Introductions Gallery January 8 through 11 so that market attendees could take a closer look at these fabulous rugs.
