Kressley took time to talk with Vice President of National Accounts Cameron Capel and co-owner A. Leon Capel Jr. about Capel Rugs’ showings and browsed through the latest additions on hand.

Capel’s new introduction included lines by COCOCOZY, Genevieve Gorder and Biltmore For Your Home® Collection. Thousands of influential tastemakers and buyers in the home décor world were able to check out the new introductions, which received rave reviews.

Capel also rolled out its Terrace line part of the Capel Anywhere collection which is perfect for summer decoration. These dual use indoor/outdoor rugs set the standard for the category using seven colors while most indoor/outdoor rugs use three at most. These 100% Olefin rugs are Wilton machine-woven in Egypt and come in 10 different patterns.

The next chance to check out the hottest new rugs offered by Capel Rugs will be at the Atlanta International Area Rug Market, which begins on Thursday, July 11th and runs through Monday the 14th.

The showroom was laid out to demonstrate how the colorful collection uses Coco’s signature patterns in new, seemingly effortless ways. Each rug – 24 in all – can be freely mixed and matched. It wasn’t just the visual appeal that struck buyers, though. There were plenty of amazed reactions at how soft each rug is. There’s something especially plush about these 100% wool hand-knotted Indo-Tibetan weaves.

Buyers took notice, placing substantial orders for all five designs in all available colors. The collection was so well received that buyers were placing orders on the spot. Others called their orders in before heading home. We knew that COCOCOZY had serious attraction, but this reception was beyond our expectations.

There was also a huge attendance at our cocktail party to introduce Coco. Because of her anonymity online, few knew what to expect. The biggest dealers in the business and the industry’s leading publications walked away saying that Coco herself is just like her collection – modern, stylish and accessible.

“Inspiration is all around you, if you’re looking for it. I just got back from another trip overseas where the architecture and culture of the Middle East had a powerful effect on me. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those elements continue to have a place in my designs.”

Other audience questions covered being on-trend with rugs like Arabesque in Emerald, where the next ‘big thing’ would come from (possibly Brazil?) and how her collection targets a young, forward-thinking crowd but can fit into more conservative homes just as well.

Following the Q&A, enthusiastic fans snapped photos with Gorder, who is one of three judges on the show HGTV Design Star and is currently working on a series about the renovation of her home in New York City.

What immediately draws the eye to this stunning rug is the seemingly random and unorganized placement of the motifs. But look closer, and you’ll see how the use of strategic layering gives every color and shape its own place. Made in India of 100% hand-tufted New Zealand wool, the Sand Multi Tempo rug is available in runner and rectangular shapes.

Bowden Scallop, a new wool design from the Williamsburg collection, bridges two distinct worlds — contemporary and traditional — with a lively yet elegant design. Shown here in the Blue Bell color way, Bowden Scallop mixes different shapes, sizes and shades of blue dots to create a fresh, transitional statement with loads of personality. Hand tufted in India, this rug is available in runner and rectangular shapes and three other color ways — Bamboo, Parchment and Spice.

That’s right, we said indigo—the mysterious color that isn’t quite blue or purple, and yet has elements of both. Traditionally, indigo is the color of devotion and wisdom, but it also represents the beauty of calm and dignity. It’s about maintaining harmony and finding a deeper level of consciousness. It’s inspirational while still giving off an old, familiar feeling, and you can incorporate it into your home with a number of amazing rugs from the Capel collections.

The Hannah style rug is a contemporary rug design from Williamsburg and Capel Rugs. Beautifully woven from pure wool yarns, the Hannah rugs feature Capel’s loop hooked construction, which serves to create that heavier, warm, comfortable feel associated with the highest quality rugs.

The Droplets Style is another quality wool, contemporary rug design, but this time from Capel’s Kevin O’Brien collection. What makes this design so captivating is the range of colors involved. With a central theme of indigo surrounded by lighter blues and darker purples, this piece can match any number of styles and absolutely makes a room.

The deep indigo colorway isn’t just for contemporary rugs. For those who prefer a more traditional rug, there’s the hand knotted Lotus style design from the Williamsburg collection. It’s got everything from a “wall of color” comprised of traditional Navajo blankets to Andy Gilmore’s digital interpretation of this iconic pattern.
